Cultural preservation is often harder to measure than something more tangible like economic impact or environmental protection. However, these intangible assets are equally (if not more) important for the overall flourishing of a community. Preserving the culture is therefore one of our core BRI goals (see below) We believe that documenting the local culture through recording videos, local stories, folk songs and more, is a great start in cultural preservation. BRI Goal 1 - Economic stability Last year we placed most of our local efforts into finding ways to create economic stability for the Red Yao community. Despite extreme poverty not existing in the region, mountainous tribes like the Red Yao still are under serious economic pressures due to lack of opportunity combined with a changing social and economic environment.Through the 2021 BRI initiatives the community saw an increase in local employment of 19 new jobs, of which 9 can be considered full-time and 10 part-time. In 2021 Viori hosted it's first Service program which was done by partnering up with a local non-profit. The 3 day program was a great success with many villagers attending the free medical services provided by the on-site staff, resulting in 100+ villagers havng received free medical services.
