We're excited to announce our most recent certification from the Roundtable of Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). Here's why we think it's so important--
To encourage local rice farmers to adopt natural farming practices, Viori pays a 100% markup to purchase naturally-grown Longsheng rice. This not only helps them financially, but it also preserves their natural environment and keeps our products free from chemicals!
Throughout 2020, Viori purchased a total of $15,000 worth of local Yao artisan ornaments, which we will give as gifts to our loyal customers throughout 2021. This year (2021), we're expanding this initiative by spreading our artisan ornaments order among more Yao women and diversifying the types of ornaments we buy.
Another characteristic of our Natural Rice Project is that we provide a financial guarantee for Yao farmer's crop output. This mitigates the risks farmers often face caused by extreme weather conditions and low crop yields. We have helped 12 families to date.
Viori currently has secured 8 plots of land where natural, chemical-free Longsheng rice is being grown for 2021.
