Healthy Hair Checklist (7 Tips to Keep Hair Healthy)

Healthy Hair Checklist (7 Tips to Keep Hair Healthy)

Are your tresses looking a little lackluster? Don’t worry, you’re not doomed to dull locks forever. Just follow our healthy hair checklist to restore your hair to the glorious mane it was always meant to be (and keep it that way!).

Eat Well

Healthy hair starts from within. After all, your tresses can’t grow in healthy if you’re not giving them the right building blocks. Be sure to include protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins and minerals like zinc, iron, biotin, and vitamins A, B, and C in your diet. Beans, nuts, seeds, fish, lean meats, dairy, fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens are all great for your hair.

Brush Properly

How and when you brush your hair has a big impact on your tresses. Whenever possible, avoid brushing wet hair. That’s when it’s most vulnerable to stretching and breaking. Instead, brush your hair when it’s dry. And always work from the bottom to the top to avoid breaking your strands. The type of brush you use matters, too. Opt for wide, coated bristles, natural bristles, or a wide-tooth comb. Our bamboo comb is perfect for gently detangling your hair.

Trim Frequently

What’s the easiest way to make a new start with healthier hair? Trim off the damaged parts. Now, we’re not suggesting you break out the razor and shave off your locks (unless you want to!), but visiting your stylist for frequent trims is a good idea. That way, you’ll regularly trim off any split ends, leaving healthier hair behind. And because your hair won’t tangle as easily, it’s less likely to break in the future, too.

Destress

According to experts at the Cleveland Clinic, managing your stress levels is essential for healthy hair. That’s because stress can actually make your hair fall out. Yikes! So if you’ve been under a lot of stress lately, make some time to relax. Enjoy your favorite hobby, chat with friends, take a yoga class, or try meditation.

Be Sparing with Heat

Heat is harsh on your hair, so skip the styling tools whenever possible. The same goes for drying your hair. Air drying is best, so try to plan your wash days when you’ll have time to let your hair air dry. And if you really must use heat tools, always use a protectant spray first.

Protect Your Hair

Sun, wind, and chemicals can all damage your hair, so take steps to protect it. Use a UV spray or cover your hair with a hat or scarf when you’re in the sun. A loose braid or scarf can help keep your hair from being damaged in the wind. And wear a swim cap if you’ll be in a chlorinated pool. When it comes to coloring, bleaching, and perming your hair, less is better. If you must use chemical treatments, wait as long as possible between appointments.

Hydrate

When your hair loses moisture, it’s prone to damage. So space out your wash days and always use conditioner after shampooing. This keeps your hair from being stripped of its natural oils and seals your cuticles to help moisture remain inside your strands. If your hair is already super dry, try a DIY mask to add some much-needed moisture.

Your hair is part of your identity, so keep it healthy by following these tips. And remember, Viori is formulated to be nourishing and gentle for all hair types. Check out our ingredients here!
