Refining Our BRI Methodology

Refining Our BRI Methodology

This year marks our fourth year of giving back to the Red Yao community through Viori’s Beautiful Reason Initiatives (BRI). Along the way, we’ve learned a lot — from both our successes and the challenges we’ve faced together. As we continue this journey, we’re making some small but meaningful updates to our methodology to reflect those lessons.

This isn’t about starting over or launching something completely new. It’s about refining what’s already working and making sure our efforts are aligned with the real needs and aspirations of the Red Yao community.

Here’s a look at the pillars that continue to guide our approach — and how we’re fine-tuning them to make an even stronger impact:

Community-Led Input
We know that lasting impact starts with listening. That’s why we’re reinforcing our efforts to gather direct feedback from the Red Yao through formal surveys and informal conversations during our monthly visits. These insights help ensure that our projects aren’t just ideas from outside, but are truly shaped by those who know the community best.

Balance Between Long-Term and Short-Term Projects
We’ve always aimed to support both the urgent needs of today and the dreams of tomorrow. Our updated methodology underscores this balance, blending long-term programs like rice and embroidery projects with smaller, targeted efforts, like school repairs and healthcare support.

Monthly On-Site Visits
These monthly visits continue to be a key part of how we work. They keep us closely connected to what’s happening on the ground and make sure we’re staying responsive and in touch.

Capacity Building and Exit Strategy
From the beginning, we’ve believed that the ultimate goal of our work is to help the Red Yao community thrive independently. Our approach aims to be a stepping stone — offering skills, training, and start-up resources that can one day be fully run by the community, without our help. That’s how we define true success.

As we move forward, we’re committed to staying flexible, humble, and ready to learn. We’re grateful to the Red Yao for their partnership and to our supporters who make this work possible.

Thank you for following our journey. We’ll keep sharing updates as we continue to refine and strengthen our work together.
