First of all, I ordered the Citrus Yao shampoo bar for my oily scalp and oily roots. This was years ago, but I must have had a defective one because I would get white residue on my hair that I had to stop using it.
Fast forward to this year, 2026, I used up the one I bought years ago for washing my hands and starch was showing up on the bar. Anyway, I finished it.
I then bought a newer one to try again. Success!! I think not only the shampoo bar but also the website i proved a lot. There is more information on the website compared to before.
This Citrus Yao shampoo bar for oily scalp and roots is, in my experience, ultra gentle and perfect for me. I finally found my shampoo fit for me.
The videos on how to use the shampoo bar is helpful but I had to watch it several times because I love watching ASMR hair lathers and needed the videos before to learn how to use a shampoo bar. This was my first one.
This shampoo bar is made out of high quality ingredients and so pure and soft. It lathers super good too. I got used to it that I now wet the shampoo bar (after soaking my hair) and rub that sucker (shampoo bar) all over my head until it lathers (very quickly) so well. If it feels a bit dry, I soak my hair a few seconds under the water and then massage it into my scalp really well. The lather feels super super soft and light, fine bubbles. Then I rinse really well before shampooing again. I don't use regular conditioner.
After rinsing on the first time, my scalp and hair feels super soft and silky and a feeling of volume of my hair. Especially when it is dry for a couple or so days.
After my shower, I apply a light (it's a 10 lite brand) of leave-in conditioner at my ends of my hair and use a wide-tooth comb to comb it through from bottom and work my way up. It doesn't leave my scalp and roots greasy. By the way, it helps so much to get rid of tangles and hair fall out (compared to not doing this) by brushing your hair really well before your shower. By doing so, when your hair air dries, it will be so much easier to brush out your hair with much less tangles and hair fall.
If you shower often, your hair might grow because it isn't blocked by dirt, oils, and stuff like that. And it also helps to maintain it healthy too. But you do you.
I've heard some people say these shampoo bars help grow your hair but I think the website doesn't mention that unless they added that in. In my experience, I cannot tell if it's true because to me, my hair looks the same: curly, fine and thin hair. The volume I get from my shampoo bar lasts about two maybe 3 days. But I try to shampoo my scalp and hair as soon as I feel it needs a wash again.
I hope this helps you decide, but this is completely based on my experience. I definitely found my perfect shampoo and it is the very best (and probably the only one) there is available to buy. Oh, and one more thing: one shampoo bar lasts you up to so many washes too, i bought mine on May 2026 and as of currently (Aug 2026) it is still big for more washes. And it lasts longer since I store it in my room on a plastic dish tray to dry.
I hope you enjoy your shampoo bar. :D I almost forgot! On the packaging (it is faint but you can see it under good lighting) there is an expiration date on it when the shampoo bar expires. After that, it gets starchy and bad.

I’ve been using CITRUS SCENT SHAMPOO + CONDITIONER BARS for OILY HAIR WASH, and I absolutely love it! My only issue is when the shampoo bar starts breaking down and looks like crumbs. I wish there was a way to use it up instead of throwing it away.

I have fine, thick, long hair. I love viori, I use the citrus yao shampoo. I struggled with scalp issues for years- dandruff, over oily, scabby patches of skin. I started my viori journey by using their hidden waterfall shampoo. I really liked that shampoo. The smell was stunning and easy application. The fact that it is a bar shampoo makes it easier to apply the product directly to your scalp which keeps your hair cleaner. Eventually I realized that I have an oily scalp so I switched to the citrus yao. I absolutely love it, I prefer the smell of the other one better thou. This one is slightly strong but I like the end results and my hair stays clean for 3 days compared to 2 with the hidden waterfall musk.
One downside to the bar shampoo is that I find it didficult to use it once it is running low. It starts to break apart and its difficult to get a grip.
I typically have very oily hair and would have to wash it daily or use dry shampoo daily, since I’ve used this product I’ve seen my hair is balanced not too oily and not dry at all. The frizz is minimal and best of all my hair has grown. The picture I added I didn’t style my hair this morning and only brushed it and it feels very healthy and soft. Highly recommend this bar

If you have combination hair AND wavy/curly hair, you need to buy the Citrus Yao shampoo with the Hidden Waterfall conditioner and you'll thank me later. I have 2C combo hair that's been chemically processed (dye) and this is the only way it stays healthy. Not even curl-specific shampoos and conditioners seem to work for my hair without making my tips all dry and tangley, but this combo did what no other shampoo could do.
My hair is dry and frizzy and I spend all day with horses or at the beach or pool, not helping the frizz. With my curly knots I go through a lot of product. I had my doubts about shampoo bars. And the bamboo holders keep everything airy a d dry so you’re not wasting any. I can’t recommend promote it enough! Do yourself and our planet a favor, give it a try!
